Originally from Beaumont, TX, Alex J. Gordon began his formal dance training at Washington University in St. Louis. Alex received his BA in architecture and minored in modern dance. During his time at Washington University, Alex joined The Slaughter Project, a pre-professional dance company ran by Cecil Slaughter. Alex also guested with several Saint Louis based performance artists and companies including Tom Brady, Atrek Dance Collective, Ashliance Dance Company, and the University of Missouri dance department from 2008-2010. After graduating from Washington University in 2010, Alex attended ADF (The American Dance Festival) in North Carolina on a work-study scholarship. After ADF, Alex joined The Missouri Contemporary Ballet (MCB) from 2010-2015 in Columbia, MO where he also became the Resident Costume Designer from 2014 to 2015. During his five seasons with MCB, Alex had the opportunity to teach, choreograph and design. Alex guested as a dancer and costume designer for Deeply Rooted Young Choreographers Showcase from 2013-2014. Since joining Thodos Dance Chicago in 2015, Alex has had the opportunity to continue to dance and design throughout Chicago and the Midwest. Currently, Alex is the costumer for the Ruth Page Center for the Arts (2016) and is excited to be in his second season with Thodos Dance Chicago.
