Jessica Miller Tomlinson

Jessica Miller Tomlinson graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts with a BFA in Contemporary Dance. Jessica has choreographed professionally for the Chautauqua Ballet Company, NC School of the Arts, DanceWorks Chicago, Chicago Repertory Ballet, The Inconvenience Performance Group, Idaho Dance Theatre, Forum Dance Theatre, Dance in the Parks, Nomi Dance Company, Columbia College of Chicago, Visceral Dance Chicago, Eisenhower Dance Company, Nebraska Contemporary Dance Theatre and Thodos Dance Chicago. Jessica has been selected as the Guest Alumni Choreographer for NC School of the Arts Summer Scenes and was also awarded the Grand Prize from the Joyce Theater Foundation's The A.W.A.R.D. Show! 2009. She self-produced her first full- length concert of works under the working title JMT/JLS Choreography. JMT/JLS Dance Gallery was then produced, followed by Triptych: 3 Dance Voices. Jessica has also collaborated with The Merchandise Mart, The Dance Center of Columbia College's Performance Repertory Ensemble, Dance For Life's Our Voices Dance, Andy Warhol Silver Clouds Exhibit at the MCA and local Chicago band District 97. Jessica was selected as the Winner of Idaho Dance Theatre's 1st Annual New Visions Choreography Competition, and she was also chosen as one of six Chicago choreographers to create a new work for DanceWorks Chicago as part of their inaugural NewMoves Choreography Competition. She was one of ten Chicago choreographers selected to be a part of Visceral Dance Chicago's inaugural Solus project. Her work has been presented at the prestigious Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, The Joyce SoHo in NYC, Dance Chicago Festival, The Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Chicago, The North Shore Center for the Arts, The Austrian Festival Young! Tanzsommer, The Harvest Chicago Contemporary Dance Festival, numerous venues nationwide, and The EICC in Edinburgh, Scotland as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Booking Dance Festival. Jessica has also received grants from the Audience Architects New Stages Dance Initiative. Jessica is currently in her eleventh season as a dancer, choreographer and teacher with Thodos Dance Chicago (TDC), where she has performed both nationally and internationally.
