An important part of the mission of Thodos Dance Chicago is to support and nurture the choreographic development of the American voice in dance. To that end, Thodos Dance Chicago provides a platform each year for its ensemble members and one guest artist from the Chicago community to create new works over a three month period and have them performed in a fully staged concert setting. Thodos Dance Chicago’s “New Dances” choreography performance series, now entering its 16th year, is a unique project that gives Chicago emerging choreographers the opportunity to develop new work and have it performed in a formal concert setting. TDC provides all tools needed to complete this experience including rehearsal space, lighting design, music editing, performance venue and more.
Each year, a guest artist from the Chicago community is selected to create a new work for “New Dances” to be set on ensemble members of Thodos Dance Chicago. This work is an ensemble piece that is no more than 10 minutes in length. Choreographers must be available for specified rehearsal times that occur between 9:30-2:30 Monday-Friday beginning in April and continuing through the performances in July. An honorarium and a small costume budget are provided as part of the project.
If interested in this unique choreographic opportunity to be the guest artist for “New Dances 2016,” please submit the following support materials to Thodos Dance Chicago no later than January 10, 2016.
Please note that support materials will not be returned. Absolutely no phone calls.
Materials may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org in Microsoft Office formats or mailed to:
