Originally from Beaumont, TX, Alex J. Gordon began his formal dance training at Washington University in St. Louis receiving his BA in architecture and minor in modern dance. While in college Alex danced for The Slaughter Project dance company and guested with Tom Brady, Atrek Dance Collective, Ashliance Dance Company, and the University of Missouri dance department. Alex attended the American Dance Festival on a work-study scholarship in 2010 in addition to joining the Missouri Contemporary Ballet (MCB). During his five seasons as a dancer with MCB, Alex choreographed and designed his first work The Dirt BeNeath (2011) and created original costumes for MCB's Alice Adventures in Wonderland (2013). Alex guested as a dancer and costume designer for Deeply Rooted Young Choreographers Showcase. Alex joined Thodos Dance Chicago in 2015 and has had the opportunity to continue to dance and design throughout Chicago and the Midwest. Currently, Alex is the costumer for the Ruth Page Center for the Arts and is excited to create one more work for TDC’s New Dances.
