NEW Dances 2019 Dancer Audition

Thodos Dance Chicago and DanceWorks Chicago are excited to build on last season's pilot collaboration and continue a shared tradition of developing choreographic talent while serving and supporting Chicago's dance community. Part of Chicago's dance history for over 30 years, NEW Dances offers Chicago-based choreographers the opportunity to develop work with a community of professional dancers and share their creations with an engaged audience. NEW Dances 2019 venue partners include Athenaeum Theatre, Ballet Chicago, and Ruth Page Center for the Arts.

CALLING ALL DANCERS: Please complete the Dancer Pre-Registration Form in order to attend the live audition on Sunday, April 7th at 11:00am, located at Ruth Page Center for the Arts. NEW Dances choreographers will assess applicants and invitations will be extended to a select group of dancers. (Interested choreographing a new, original work for NEW Dances 2019? Selected Chicago-area dancers will be given:
- And invitation in the NEW Dances Company, joining with DanceWorks Chicago dancers, training, rehearsing, performing, and building community.
- An honorarium of $550 to cover the creation of the work and teaching of one company class during the creative period.

CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Pre-Registration is required and will close at 12pm (Central Time) on Friday, April 5th. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered. Dancers will hear back from either Thodos Dance Chicago (TDC) or DanceWorks Chicago (DWC) no later than Saturday, April 20th.

Residency Requirements: You must be living in Chicago or a Suburb of Chicago as of April 2019.

Commitments Include:
- Dancer Audition: Sunday, April 7th, 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.
- Panelist showing date of works in progress: Saturday, June 8th, 10am-2pm
- Rehearsals: Monday-Saturday, June 3-8 and Monday-Friday, June 10-14
- Tech Week and Performances: The week of June 17th (dates to be announced at a later time)
